Galveston fishing charters-3/1

Had a group out on a Galveston fishing charter to the jetties today. We hit multiple spots in search for big black drum. The drum bite was a little slow only landing 3 ranging from 20-50lbs. We then changed gears and tried fishing for slot red fish and sheephead. We caught a few small black drum (great eating), 5 sheephead, and 1 slot red measuring 26 inches. The group was tired and had a great day on the water. The bait of choice was live shrimp on our Galveston fishing trip. The black drum were caught on crab. Had Kathy and fam. out on our half day galveston fishing charter to the jetties. We left the dock around 7:00am in hopes to get the trip in before the front which was expected to hit Galveston around 3:00pm. Started dropping lines and the bite was pretty slow for everyone. We caught 4 big black drum, 1 bull red, and 1 sheep head. The weather was nice until the rain started a few hours into the trip. The group toughed it out and really enjoyed fighting the big black drum. The trip was booked for Kathy's 10 yr old son's bday and boy did he enjoy his Galveston fishing charter present.

Had a group charter the boat out for valentines day to the Galveston jetties. Said they wanted  to catch and release some big fish on their charter, so that's what we did. The weather was nice for this time of year with temps pushing 70 degrees. Had captain Roy take the group out fishing since I was busy tending to my honey.  Capt Roy put the guys on multiple bull reds. Some came on light tackle and live shrimp while the others came on live crabs soaking on the bottom. The guys ended up landing 12 bull reds in the 30 lb range and missed a few more. This time of year the fishing really starts heating up at the Galveston jetties. Spring break is coming on quickly and we hope to have more fish hitting the deck everyday. Took advantage of the nice weather this afternoon to go fishing for speckled trout. Hit a spot in Galveston around 1:00pm and started catching fish immediately. Caught plenty of speckled trout fishing with a limtetreuse paddletail and an 1/8 oz jig head. We caught over 30 fish. Catch and release was the goal for today.  We fished a few different spots checking to see what was around and had a blast doing it. Good times fishing in Galveston had by all!

West Bay-Galveston trout fishing 1/20/15

The fog was so think that you could cut it with a knife. Visibility was probably 20 yards. Left the dock around 7:30am to fish some spots in west bay. Got to our first spot and was super slow. Hardly any bait or tidal movement at all. Fished for a bit and had a few bites. I didn't want to run too much do to all the fog so I kept working different areas around our first spot. The fog lifted around 11:00 and the fish slowly started to bite. Unfortunately majority of the fish that were caught we undersized. We caught and released over 50 fish with only 11 being keepers. At the end of the day our arms were sore from casting so much. Most bites came on a dark colored paddle tail with a shortreuse tail. The weekend coming up is looking nice.
